What is GoTestify QA?
GoTestify QA is a Windows app for game QA testers. It records your whole session in the background. When you spot an issue, press a hotkey to flag it and keep playing. Afterwards, review each finding with its clip and screenshots, write it up or annotate it easily and send it to your team.
Your recordings and findings stay on your PC. Nothing is uploaded unless you share it e.g. Slack or Jira.
What you need
A Windows 10 or 11 PC
A modern NVIDIA, AMD or Intel graphics card (we optimise for low overhead)
A QA seat on your company's Go Testify account
An internet connection. The app checks your access at least every 2 hours. If your studio has a firewall, see Network access for GoTestify QA.
Step 1: Set up your team
Account holders and admins do this once, on the Go Testify website:
Go to Manage Users and give each tester a QA seat. They get an email with the download link.
Step 2: Install and sign in
Download GoTestify QA for Windows from the email or the QA page.
Run the installer.
Sign in with your Go Testify email and password.
The app keeps itself up to date automatically on new updates.
Your session dashboard
Your sessions live here. A session is one test run, for example a play-through of a new build.
Create new session: give it a name and, if you like, a game or build label.
Session cards: show recorded time, size on disk and how many findings are triaged.
Active and Archived tabs: archive finished sessions to tidy up. Archived sessions keep their recordings.
Local storage: shows free disk space and roughly how many hours you can still record.
Recording a session
Click Start session on a session card.
Click Select source and pick your game window or a screen.
Window records only that window and its sound.
Screen records the whole display and all sound on the PC.
Pick a microphone, or No microphone. You can still mute it at any time.
Click Start session and play.
Use Pause session and Resume session to take breaks. There's no stop button: leaving the recording screen stops recording, and you can resume later anytime.
Capture hotkeys
Press these while your game is in focus. The app never blocks the key from your game.
Key | What it does |
F6 | Flag the moment. Saves a finding that includes the 30 seconds before you pressed it + 10 secs after. |
F7 | Flag and add detail. Opens a small pop-up for a title, severity, priority and a voice note. |
F8 | Screenshot and add detail. Same as F7, with a screenshot attached. |
You see and hear a short confirmation each time. Your latest findings show under Recent Findings on the recording screen.
Triaging findings
Click Triage Findings on a session card. Findings are sorted into New, Reviewed and Actioned. You can search and filter by severity and priority, and use the arrow keys to move through the list.
For each finding you can:
Watch the moment in the full recording, and move the in and out points to frame it.
Create Clip to save that part as a video file.
Screenshot any frame, then mark it up with pen, arrow, box or text.
Rec. Voice Note to talk through what happened.
Set the title, severity, priority and status.
Write the Issue details. Click Insert template for a standard bug format, or Copy to paste it anywhere.
Everything saves as you go.
Tip: making clips uses your PC's resources. If you can, create clips when you're not testing so your game isn't affected.
Sharing to Jira and Slack
Click Share on a finding and choose Share with Jira or Share with Slack.
The first time, click Connect. A browser tab opens for you to approve the GoTestify QA app. You only do this once per Jira site or Slack workspace. If your company needs an admin to approve new apps, you'll see a request option instead.
Jira
Create a new issue in a project, or add the finding to an existing issue as a comment.
Select which clips, screenshots and voice notes to attach.
Slack
Send to a channel or straight to a person.
Private channel not listed? In Slack, open the channel and run
/invite @GoTestifyQA, then click refresh in the app.
If a clip is too large, create a low quality version and share that instead. If a share fails, Retry carries on where it stopped without sending anything twice.
Your files
Everything is saved on your PC. Use Open capture folder on a session card to find the files.
Archive hides a session but keeps its recordings.
Delete removes the session and its recordings for good.
If the app is locked
If there's a problem with your access, the app shows a screen that explains what's wrong and who can fix it. For example: no QA seat, the trial has ended, a payment needs updating, no internet connection, or an update is needed. Your recordings stay safe on your PC, and Open recordings folder always works. Once it's fixed, click Check again.
