How iOS testers get your game
Testers take part on their own iPhone using the Go Testify Contribute app. Contribute shows them your game's name and icon with a link, and they install it themselves as part of the test setup.
You choose one of three ways to share it when you set up your test:
Delivery | Use it when | What the tester does |
Web | Your game runs in the devices default web browser e.g. Safari | Nothing to install. Once recording starts, testers tap a button in Contribute to open the game in Safari |
TestFlight | Your game is not on the App Store yet, or you want testers on a pre-release build | Installs Apple's TestFlight app, accepts your invite, installs the build |
App Store | Your game is already live | Installs it from the App Store |
Testers need an iPhone on iOS 17 or later. Make sure your build supports iOS 17.
Creating a TestFlight public link
A public link lets anyone with the link join your beta, without you collecting email addresses. You need an Apple Developer Program account and your app set up in App Store Connect.
Upload a build to App Store Connect from Xcode, Unity or Unreal as you normally would.
In App Store Connect, open your app, go to TestFlight, and under External Testing create a new group (for example "Go Testify playtest").
Add your build to the group and fill in the test information Apple asks for (what to test, a contact email, and a demo account if your game needs a login).
Submit for Beta App Review. The first build of each version must be reviewed by Apple before external testers can install it. Reviews usually finish within a day or two, so submit well before your test starts.
Once approved, open the group and choose Enable Public Link.
Set a tester limit high enough for your test, plus some spare for testers who drop out (see limits below).
Copy the link (it starts with
https://testflight.apple.com/join/) and paste it into your Go Testify test on the Platform step.

Limits and expiry
Builds expire 90 days after upload. After that, testers cannot open the game. If your test runs longer, or you plan to reuse the test later, upload a new build and add it to the same group before the old one expires. The link stays the same.
Tester limit. You can have up to 10,000 external testers per app across all groups. The public link stops accepting new testers when it reaches the limit you set, so testers will see "This beta is full". Raise the limit in App Store Connect if this happens.
New builds. If you add a newer build to the group, testers are offered the update in TestFlight. Tell us before you swap builds during a live test so we can let testers know.
Turning the link off. You can disable the public link at any time. Testers who already joined keep the build until it expires or you remove them.
Already on the App Store? Installing a TestFlight build replaces the App Store version of the same game on the tester's phone. If your live game shares the same bundle ID, testers will be playing the TestFlight build until they reinstall from the App Store.
What gets recorded
Testers record their whole screen using Apple's screen broadcast, with their voice from the microphone (if required) and your game's sound. Please make sure your game does not hide its content when the screen is being recorded (for example by blacking out the screen when UIScreen.isCaptured is true), otherwise the recording will be blank.
