Some tests require you to click on a link in the recorder to access the content that you are testing!
TOP TIP: These tests will have a Launch browser button in the recorder window!
This link usually leads to a critical item that you need in order to successfully complete the test.
We'll take some time to go through some options here, but the most important thing to remember is;
When you open the recorder and go through the initial setup, you'll get to this section;
You'll have three things to do;
1) Click the LAUNCH BROWSER link.
2) Carefully Read and Follow any Instructions Provided
3) Select screen (if you have more than one) and start your recording when ready.
The Launch Browser option could lead to;
A zip/compressed file that you need to download or extract
A webpage with instructions that you should follow
A survey where you'll need to answer some questions
Each of these has a slightly different flow when the Launch Browser button is clicked.
We'll explain each below and what you should expect, if you're unsure of anything, or would like to clarify anything, reach out via the methods at the bottom of this guide!
A zip/compressed file is downloaded
If a Zip file downloads to your PC when you click Launch Browser, you will need to extract this.
The menu should look similar to this!
To do so, usually all you need to do is find the file on your computer (usually this goes to your downloads folder) and right click on it, then click Extract all.
TOP TIP: Your PC should be able to do this. However, if you can't open the file, there are various free software options available online, such as;
Once you have the game extracted, normally all you need to do is open a specific file, and then move onto step 2/3 above.
You should be provided with instructions on which file to open, and anything else you may need to know.
A Website Opens with Instructions
If a web page opens when you click Launch Browser. You need to review any instructions on that page and follow them.
TOP TIP: You may be asked to activate a game, or you might have to download a game in the same way as the above Zip process. Please make sure you're recording before you start any tasks you are asked to complete!
There could be other variations, but instructions should always be clear on what you should do on this website.
If you're unsure what to do, reach out to us or to the team that invited you to the test.
A Survey Opens
If a survey opens - Again, you will be given instructions, follow them, and complete the survey - Usually, you'll have some verbal portions to this, hence the need to record.
Typically, you'll be guided through this and be asked to complete a survey via the website you're taken to.
TOP TIP: If you need to give verbal feedback, it should be in the relevant questions. Talk about the question and give some detail in your answer. Please make sure you're recording before you start answering questions!
Take as much time as you need to do so. If you are unsure again, let us know.
When you've finished your required time and completed any instructions you have been given, finish the recording and complete any final tasks as instructed by the recorder.
If you have downloaded anything to your device (such as the zip file), please also delete these now!
