You've set up a PC test, and you've got everything filled in, but you're stuck on one part. The Platform section. What does this mean? What do the Participants see with each option? Which is the best choice for your test?

See below for some insight that should help with this section!

You should have three tabs, as below;

In this article, we'll break each down and help you understand what each is typically used for.

Steam

Steam is fairly self explanatory by this point, but in short, you can use this to automatically provide your participant with a steam key, and if applicable, a code to access a branch you may have set up. Our recorder guides them through activation and download steps, all you need to do is provide the information!

A few key areas to take note of are;

Available Steam Keys - During a test, any allocated keys are highlighted in pink, keys that are still available are Grey. You can also download a list of keys from the overview page when a test is live.

Steam Beta - Ensure you put your branch name and any password required here, this will prompt the participant to access the correct build if required.

Standalone Build

If you have a build ready, but not on Steam, or you just want to distribute to the Participants directly, use this option. We require that the build is supplied in a Zip file, no Larger than 8 GB.

Remember to include an executable (.exe) file so that the participants can open the build. Our recorder will instruct on how to extract and access, so don't worry about that part!

Web URL

You might have your game hosted somewhere other than Steam, or it's too large to upload to our platform. You might not even have a game, and you're just looking for feedback on a webpage or some concept art. Your game might even be browser based. If any of these apply, this is the option for you.

Pop in your web address, and our recorder will prompt the participant to launch their browser when they start their session. Some customers use this to drive participants to a landing page of instructions before they begin playing!

Whatever your needs, our platform has you covered, and if you're stuck or not quite sure how to line up your test, you can always reach out via the little bubble in the bottom right of the page, or via support@gotestify.com. Happy Testing!
