Getting Started

Before you begin the playtest, You will either be asked to provide your name and email address, or Login/Register. If asked to Login and you don't have an account, please Register, or Login using your previous details.

Please carefully read our terms and conditions and confirm that you understand and agree to them.

NOTE: Please read these initial instructions carefully, as they will outline what you need on hand to engage with the test, including the type of input device.

Then, perform an internet speed test and ensure it is over 3 Mbps!

Please review the 'How to Give the Great Feedback' video and press "I Understand" to continue; even if you are a returning player this will help refresh your memory. πŸ™‚

There are some tips in this article if you'd like to know more about giving Feedback!

Next, please agree to the rules of our playtest and make sure you understand them.
If you do not adhere to it, this will result in you being removed from the playtest and potentially lose your reward.

Please select that you are ready to start when you are ready to download Contribute (our recorder). If you already have it, simply select it is already installed.

NOTE: Contribute will be downloaded to your browser's default download folder. Usually, you can click on the file within the browser to install or use your File Explorer to browse to the right folder and open the file!

Once you've downloaded Contribute, you are ready to start testing, to begin testing simply hit the 'Launch Session' button.

Setting Up Contribute

A game can be distributed in multiple ways via Contibute. It can be supplied;

  • Directly via a Download

  • Via a Webpage that is accessed when you start recording

  • Via Steam

Please expand the option that you need below to find out more!

Steam

If the game to be tested is on Steam, we'll distribute a Key to you via Contribute.

You'll see the following screen;

Please follow the steps on this screen and download Steam if you haven't done so already; create an account if needed, then click Next when done.

You will then see this screen. It's important to ensure that you'll be able to take part in the test at this point, and if you feel that you won't be able to, please do not request a key. Otherwise, if you are happy to continue, please request a Key!

Follow the steps in the above screen to register your key on Steam, and once you have the game installed, please click Next.

NOTE: The name may show as something different in Steam compared to previous instruction.

When you activate a key, pay attention to what it appears as immediately after activation in the Steam window, this will be the name in your Library, and you will need to install this particular title.

As part of the test, you may need to play a specific game version. In this case, you'll see the following screen;

If you do see this screen, please ensure that you follow all instructions, then click Next!

NOTE: If you do not follow this instruction and take part in the test, you will likely invalidate your session by playing the wrong version of the game. This could also result in loss/forfeit of your reward for failure to follow instructions.

The final screen above asks you to confirm that the game is installed and that you have selected the correct version of the game (if applicable). If you've done all this, hit continue and move into the Audio Setup Section!

For further guidance here, please see this article, which goes into a step by step guide with screenshots!

Download

When following the initial steps (after clicking on the invite link), we'll invite you to download and extract the Game.

On the initial website, after the invitation link, there will be extra screens, as below;

The first gives you a link to download the game - If you're happy to take part in the test, please click "Download Game".

The second explains how to extract the game files, please follow these steps carefully and take note of where the game is extracted to. This is usually your download folder.

Then, in Contribute, after following all of the setup steps, the instructions to the left look slightly different, as suggested; Locate the game, launch it, choose the correct screen (if applicable), and start your recording.

Webpage

We'll ask you to review or test via a Webpage (accessed through a button on Contribute)

The only visual difference is in the recorder itself;

Please take the time to Launch the browser; this does not happen automatically.

Usually, there will be some instructions in these tests advising what you need to do. This could be feedback on a website or some form of survey that requires verbal and written feedback!

Please pay attention to and follow any instructions.

Audio Setup

Please ensure you have headphones connected and be ready to speak aloud to test your microphone when prompted to complete an audio check.

Follow each step as shown in the screenshots below, following any instructions to prepare for testing!

During a Test

Great! You have registered, installed Contribute and completed the audio test.
On the recorder, you will be able to select what screen you wish to have recorded. This will also contain any special instructions and any tasks that need to be completed.

Please make sure to read any instructions and tasks carefully.

If you wish to pause your recording session, simply select the 'Stop' button and 'Pause'.

To resume your playtest, select 'Resume Session' and select what screen to record and continue from where you left off.

To finish a recording, select the 'Stop' button and then the 'Finish Session' button.

You will then be taken to complete a survey; please answer all the questions carefully and honestly.

An Example Question is shown below:

Once you have completed your surveys, you will be taken to a screen where you will be thanked, and you'll be able to begin a new session if enough time has passed.

If you are unable to start a new session, but the test requires multiple sessions, this means that you will need to wait until the next day to continue. If you don't believe this should be the case, please reach out via the methods below!

Troubleshooting FAQs

How do Live Events work with Go Testify?

FAQs Regarding Live Events with Go Testify

  • Occasionally, we will run live events, usually for a multiplayer test, that will necessitate downloading the game during the event. Some key factors to note here;

    • Downloading the game will be accounted for in the total event time.

    • The usual reason for not being able to download before the event is for security purposes. We sometimes cannot allow access until the event itself.

    • Because of this, it's important to follow instructions due to the timings of events, so please come prepared!

  • Providing feedback during live events works a little differently, especially in a multiplayer setting.

    • Usually, we'll advise that you can talk freely with your fellow testers, but please remember to comment on how aspects of the game make you feel;

      • Example: "I like this because of X"

      • This is taken into account when reviewing your feedback, so don't worry about being removed from a test due to insufficient feedback; we ask that you try to remember to give some context regarding your discussions with your co-testers.

Can I use other software alongside the Contribute? / Will other Software interfere with the recorder?

FAQs regarding using other software alongside the Contribute

  • Sometimes we'll ask you to use other software alongside our recorder. We'll advise you of this ahead of any planned playtest.

  • Most often, this will be Discord. If you're unfamiliar with it;

    • Discord is a VoIP and instant messaging social platform. Users have the ability to communicate with voice calls, video calls, text messaging, media and files in private chats or as part of communities called "servers".

    • We will invite you to our server, so if you need to, you can download, sign up and learn more about Discord from here - https://discord.com/

    • You will be able to use Discord alongside our recorder. It will not interfere with your feedback.

    • Discord have a great FAQ here - https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045138571-Beginner-s-Guide-to-Discord - which should answer most additional questions you may have regarding the app.

What is a Beta version?

FAQs regarding Beta Versions of Games

  • Please pay close attention to the instructions the recorder provides.

  • If it mentions a Beta version, this is required for your sessions to be valid. Please do not skip this step in any way.

    • If you're unsure how to do this after the instructions, please contact a member of our support team, who will be happy to assist.

    • If these instructions are mentioned, but you are having difficulty accessing the beta version, do not start a session until you have spoken with a member of the Go Testify team.

    • If you do play any version of the game without the Beta Version active (when required), you may invalidate your session and may forfeit your reward as a result.

If I force close Contribute when I have a paused session, will my session be lost?

  • No, all you need to do is open the recorder again and it should allow you to resume as if you hadn't closed the App.

  • If you have difficulties with this, please let us know via the methods below.

Will I be notified if my streaming is interrupted at all?

  • Yes, if you have any kind of Audio, Screen, or Network issue, Contribute will alert you via an audio notification.

  • If this is the case, please read the message that appears, and look to try to rectify the issue as described.

  • If you are unsure, please contact us via the methods below!
